We have held various events for parents of children with conditions such as Crohn’s and Colitis. Our aim is to bring the top medical experts in the field to share their knowledge and answer the questions that parents have. One recent event involved a panel presentation and Q&A on the latest treatment options, risks and benefits, with a focus on specific challenges faced by young people.
We also run blood drives in conjunction with The Joely Bear Appeal to encourage community members to give blood which can be vital in the treatment of seriously ill children.
Thankfully, now my son is in remission, but the information evening was very encouraging, meeting professionals who are passionate about helping and finding solutions for us. It felt comforting to be amongst other parents who were all in the same position, gaining knowledge about how best to cope with the challenges our children are facing.
