Camp Simcha has announced Daniel Gillis will be its new Chief Executive.
Mr Gillis, 35, has held a number of positions at the charity since joining in 2010, including his current role as Head of Services and Deputy Chief Executive.
Making the announcement today [11 April 2024], Simon Johnson, Chair of Camp Simcha, said: “Together with the Board of Trustees, I am delighted to share the news that Daniel Gillis has been appointed as Camp Simcha’s new CEO, following a comprehensive, externally supported recruitment process.
“Daniel was the outstanding candidate who emerged from a very talented field of applicants. His passion for, knowledge of, and commitment to Camp Simcha is unquestioned. He has a compassionate and enthusiastic nature and we are delighted to see how he grew into the role of Deputy CEO and how he continued to grow through this rigorous recruitment process.
“The Trustees and I are looking forward to working with Daniel and the rest of the team, as we continue to grow Camp Simcha, moving it forward while maintaining its reputation as a highly respected and admired organisation providing critical support to families with seriously ill children in the community.”
Mr Gillis, a graduate of the Dangoor JLC Senior Leadership programme, said he felt privileged to assume the position, taking over from his predecessor of 19 years, Neville Goldschneider, who retired to make Aliyah.
“I am absolutely thrilled to accept the position of CEO at Camp Simcha,” said Mr Gillis. “It is both an honour and a privilege to step into this pivotal role within our vital community charity. Having witnessed first-hand the profound impact our services have had on the lives of seriously ill children and their families, I am deeply committed to our mission. I look forward to continuing to work alongside our dedicated staff, trustees, volunteers and supporters – all collectively striving to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those we support.”
Mr Gillis, who is married with three children, is also a long-standing first responder for Hatzola Edgware and the London Ambulance Service, and Honorary Officer at Edgware Adath Yisroel Congregation.
